Dr. Sangmin Lee Selected for the 2026 Jang Young Sil Fellow Program for his Research on Autonomous Driving Frameworks

We are proud to announce that Dr. Sangmin Lee, a postdoctoral researcher in our laboratory, has been selected for the 2026 Jang Young Sil Fellow Program (Excellence Track).

The Jang Young Sil Fellow Program, organized by the KAIST Office of Research Affairs, is a prestigious initiative designed to nurture outstanding postdoctoral researchers into world-class scholars. As an “Excellence Track” fellow, Dr. Lee was recognized for his exceptional potential to produce research outcomes on par with KAIST faculty.

Dr. Lee’s research centers on developing a “Public map based autonomous driving framework.” This innovative work focuses on enhancing the scalability and reliability of autonomous vehicles by effectively leveraging widely accessible public map data. His research is expected to provide critical solutions for the practical deployment of self-driving systems in complex urban environments.

Through this fellowship, Dr. Lee will receive significant support—including personnel expenses of up to KRW 80 million per year—to lead his independent research projects and further advance his framework. This appointment underscores the lab’s commitment to pioneering transformative technologies in robotics and intelligent transportation.
