Visitors from Meta in IRiS lab

We recently had the pleasure of hosting a team from Meta in IRiS lab at KAIST. During their visit, we showcased a series of our ongoing projects through live demos and even hands-on demos where they try the robots for themselves.

Highlights included our hyper-realistic bimanual teleoperation system, enabling precise and intuitive remote manipulation.

Bimanual assembly task, demonstrating fine motor coordination using dual-arm robots.

To wrap up the tour, we showed our steerable soft growing robot navigating a complex maze, highlighting its potential for exploration in constrained environments.

It was a great opportunity to share ideas and get feedback from researchers working at the forefront of industry.

Professor Ryu Named IEEE Fellow

Professor Ryu has been selected as an IEEE Fellow, recognizing his contributions to robotics. This is a significant achievement in the field, and we’re glad to see his work acknowledged at this level.

Congratulations to Professor 🎉

Professor Ryu Joins IEEE RAS AdCom

Professor Ryu has been voted as an Administrative Committee (AdCom) member of IEEE RAS, contributing to the leadership of the Robotics and Automation Society. We look forward to seeing his involvement in shaping the future of robotics within the IEEE community. Congratulations to Professor!

[Success Story] Joong-Ku is on U.S. Department of Energy newsletter

Recently, Ph.D student Joong-Ku is in Argonne National Laboratory(ANL) for doing exchange research. He is participating Oak Ridge Reservation program and taking charge of the dual-arm robot system.

Successfully, ANL assembled the dual-arm robot system and successfully tested its teleoperation. Office of Environmental Management in U.S. Department of Energy (DOE EM) posted about this improvement in their weekly newletters (refer to picture above).

It is really impressive and meaningful that our researcher is having a great moment in ANL. Congratulations!

[V-log] IRiS LAB in IROS 2022 Kyoto, Japan !

Some of IRiS LAB members attended IROS 2022 Kyoto last year as I posted. And the V-Log video has now updated !!! This is the video Nam Gyun made. We had a lot of fun time there and now we are glad to be able to share our memories to you.

I hope you enjoy it. 🙂

2023 Strawberry Party

31, March 2023.

The IRiS members had a strawberry party(a.k.a. 딸파) which is the most distinctive and tradional event at KAIST and is commonly held in Spring!

We had a lot of fun together with delicious meals and strawberries. Also, it is blooming season in Korea so we could take a photo with beautiful cherry blossom.

Georgia Tech Professor Yongkwon Cho visited our IRiS lab

On the 28th of March, professor Yongkwon Cho of Georgia Institute of Technology visited our IRiS lab and gave a impressive talk to our lab and graduate students of Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering.

Our IRiS lab members had prepared diligently to demo each research field.

It was meangingful to meet each other and share own’s research!
